Operates engine lathe, saw, grinder, drill press, radial drill, and other machines as required.

Must be able to set up and operate one or more of the following type A machines; Okuma mill, Okuma lathe, Monarch HMC, Monarch VMC, Mazak VMC, CIM-X Horizontal, American, Axelson, Alilant, G&L, all gear machines, SAG, Webb, Cyl, Grinder, Surface Grinder.

Makes simple set-ups on drill press for small and medium size parts, using simple fixtures.

Selects speeds and feeds and replaces dull tooling with limited assistance.

Uses hand press to install and remove bushings or pins.

Reads and interprets engineering drawings including geometric tolerancing.

Performs sets ups including mounting and locating fixtures, setting tool lengths, and selecting appropriate cutting tools per engineering drawings.

Performs in process inspections using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and other standard inspection tools.

Layout parts for machining such as scribing lines and points.

Writes follow up reports and document issues and concerns for next shift.

Performs own work inspections as well as others.

Keeps work areas clean and organized.

Any special projects or duties as requested.

High School diploma or equivalent.

Minimum three years experience in machining trade with two years experience with steel and iron products.

Sets up and maintains at least three type A machine and a minimum of one type B machine.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

Must provide own tools including standard inspection tools.

Possesses a solid understanding of steel, cast iron, and weldment machining requirements.

Ability to make quick and accurate decisions using good judgment.

Possesses good math skills to calculate feeds and speeds as well as interpreting drawing geometry.

Able to read and interpret geometric tolerancing.

Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision.

Lift up to 50 lbs.
